Hostage Negotiations

Posted on Tue May 27th, 2014 @ 9:36pm by Captain Wesley Chase & Commander Jonathan Grayson & Lieutenant Commander Leandro Balt

Mission: The Great Hunt
Location: Bridge
Timeline: Current

With the cloaking device installed, and nobody knowing about it but the Captain and First officer, Wesley decided it was time to make the bold move of approaching Dorium's people once more to negotiate the release of the original hostages from Betazed. He would allow his Chief Diplomatic Officer to handle the negotiations, but this time they would take place aboard the USS Archimedes where he could monitor the safety of his crew.

=^= Chase to Diplomatic Department. Report to the Bridge at once please. =^= he said using his combadge.

Jon sat on the bridge waiting for the Diplomatic Officer. It seemed like he had been called hours ago. Stabbing his finger down on combage, Jon spoke, "Grayson to Balt. Report to the bridge immediately."

Balt had heard the first call for him to come to the bridge. At least, that is, the sound had reached his ears. He was distracted by the unpacking he had done in his quarters. And besides, the last time he tried to report in to the Captain, they had been attacked, he didn't want that to happen again.

The second call a few seconds later from the First Officer jolted him from his daze. =^= Acknowledged Commander, I'm on my way.=^= He got up with effort and made his way to the bridge. Maybe the Captain would talk to him this time. Maybe his mind would be more open, less blocked off, this time. Maybe Leandro would be less distracted this time and better able to do his job.

He stepped onto the bridge and made himself visible to the Captain and XO. "You gentlemen asked to see me?"

"Shortly we will begin negotiations for the hostages kidnapped from Betazed. I will need you to spearhead these negotiations please. We will keep a DNA lock on you and beam you out at the first sign of trouble. We will literally lock onto your skeletal structure, which we believe will allow us to bypass the interference in the atmosphere of the planet. We hope." Wesley said.

Balt was excited for the opportunity to do his job but the need for a DNA transporter lock racked his nerves. He grimaced. "Captain, your confidence gives me hope." He tried to keep most of the sarcasm out of his voice. He wasn't sure it worked though. "I have been briefed on the current situation, this is going to be a tough one. I hope that I can work something out with these people. For all of our sakes."

"I hope so too. For your sake Lt. Commander." Jon replied The sarcasm in his voice clearly evident. "We'd hate to have to break in another diplomat."

"Dismissed. I just received word that the USS Sunfire is joining us so perhaps they will be able to help us negotiate these treacherous waters that we seem to have gotten ourselves into." Wesley said.
