Mission: Two is Not Better than One
Location: Various

I'm 8 days late, but hopefully not 8 dollars short. Either way, it's time for our first real mission! Interestingly enough, we have 8 crewmembers too!

For those of you who are new, enjoy these next few weeks. I still remember my first sim mission quite well even though it happened over 12 years ago now! It's hard to believe it's been that long. If I can offer one piece of advice, it's be BOLD. Advance the plot. Don't worry about "messing things up." You won't. Feel free to use any and all of the other characters--you're not stuck just using your own character in the posts. Also, don't fix problems... Add to them. What would an episode of Star Trek be if they solved everything in the first 10 minutes. Okay, enough from me, let's sim...

{USS Chuck Norris, Bridge}

Commander Butlh sat in the command chair as he read over the daily reports PADD. He was a Klingon with a problem. Officially, he was second in command. In practice, he was Captain.

"Thank you sir," said Marine Captain Mor'Tag as he took the PADD from Butlh and left the bridge.

Butlh was at a loss. How did it get to this point? Somehow the actual Captain, Captain Sprague, was not only living in the guest quarters, but he didn't even know that he was Captain of the vessel. He seemed to think he was just a passenger en route to Delta Vega. But they weren't going to Delta Vega. Sprague couldn't be convinced despite the best efforts of Butlh and the crew. It must be fate, Butlh thought.

"Commander, I'm receiving a distress signal," said Ensign Razer.

"Distress signal? From who?"

Razer looked at his screen again. It couldn't be right. He reset the display.

"Ensign, I'm waiting?!?"

"It's coming from... The USS Chuck Norris."

Lieutenant Durand approached Razer's station. "Indeed, sir. Distress signal registers as... USS Chuck Norris. Ensign Razor is correct."

"Hellion, plot an intercept course," Butlh barked.

"Done Commander, ready to rock and roll!" Hellion secretly hoped for a battle ahead.

Butlh tapped his comm badge. "Engineering, can you give me warp 8?"

"Yes we can, commander," replied Chief Engineer Sayic from the speaker. "Our engines are fully operational."

"Very well, warp 8, engage!"

With that, the Chuck Norris was off.

"ETA 5 minutes," Hellion added.

{USS Chuck Norris, Guest Quarters}

The hum of the warp engines activating awoke a slumbering Captain Dick Sprague. He pushed his curtains aside and looked out the window to find the stars shooting by. "Finally... It's about time we got going." He then rolled over back to sleep.

{USS Chuck Norris, Bridge}

The other Chuck Norris appeared on the viewer as they arrived.

"Sir," Durand said from the science station, "It's registering as the Chuck Norris. It's identical to our own ship in every way. Except..."

"Except what?"

"Except there's no one onboard--it's empty."

"Thoughts?" Butlh ask the counselor.

"None commander," the android M.I.U. replied. "Insufficient data."

Butlh frowned. "Ensign Razer, have yourself and Ensign Sayic meet me in the transporter room." He started for the door before realizing he couldn't leave the ship to Sprague. He tapped his comm badge. "Butlh to Captain Mor'Tag."

{USS Chuck Norris, Transporter Room}

Mor'Tag, Razer, and Sayic stepped onto the transporter pad. "Energize," Mor'Tag ordered.

{USS Chuck Norris, Bridge}

"Captain!" Durand said as the other Chuck Norris exploded right in front of them.

"Shields up!" Butlh banged his chest, activating the comm badge. "Transporter room, the landing party hasn't left yet, have they?!?"

"Yes sir, about thirty seconds ago," replied the transporter chief.

Butlh cursed. The rest of the bridge crew looked at the screen in disbelief. Three of their comrades gone. Just like that.

"Any other ships in the area?" asked the always tactical-minded Klingon commander.

"Uh... No sir," Durand continued, "No other ships in this sector."

"Mr. Durand, begin an investigation. We've got to find out what happened... Mr. Hellion, hold this position."

{Other USS Chuck Norris, Transporter Room}

"Why haven't we transported yet?" asked Mor'Tag.

"Just got word from the bridge that the away mission is cancelled," said that transporter chief.

"What? I guess it's back to stations." Razer and Sayic left, annoyed. Mor'Tag tapped his comm badge. "Mor'Tag to bridge."

"Bridge here, what is it, Mor'Tag?" asked an unfamiliar voice.

"Just wondering why the mission was cancelled."

"Don't worry about it--get up here now."

{Other USS Chuck Norris, Bridge}

Mor'Tag arrived on the bridge, just as the command chair swiveled back toward him. "About time," said a confident Captain Sprague in command.

To recap...

We received a distress signal from another USS Chuck Norris. We found the ship and it didn't have anyone onboard. We then sent an away team to the other Chuck Norris and it exploded right after they arrived. Now we're conducting an investigation into what happened.

Somehow, the landing party is still on the other Chuck Norris as if they never left. The only thing different is that Captain Sprague is firmly in command, not lounging around in the guest quarters like he is on the real Chuck Norris.

the M.I.U stood near a window on the lower decks accessing her data base.
logic would dictate the easiest answer was usely the right one
though the easiest answer was often harder to access.
"another ship identical to this one seemed a bit redundant." she thought.
"perhaps it holds another use," the android smiled.
she needed more time to think
