Mission: Waters of Coralee
Location: Ops Room
Timeline: At the Appropriate time when the Information has been given!

" Okay, folks, listen up!"

"No need to be so loud, it's just the three of us,"

"Four. Don't forget Decker."

"Four, then. Two people gone...well, it doesn't matter. Here's the deal..."

Problems. The world has problems and the goal of every life form is to make them go away. Sometimes the situation calls for something temporary until real fixes can be made...sometimes, people live through the ups and downs of temporary solutions their whole lives. They feel sad...they get drunk. They get drunk, they feel happy. They lose money, wake up, and are sad once more. And so that life goes. Then there are the people who have a longterm solution that will not only solve their problems but solve everyone's.

Enter the inventors and adventurers and diplomats and (if used correctly) soldiers of the universe. Enter those that strive for excellence their entire lives, and commit to being happy - which, in essence, is the real goal a living life form has - forever.

Problem solvers, therefore, make the money. Pilots solve the problem for those that can't fly. Captains solve the problem for people who need a leader. Engineers solve the problem of ships, and all technology. Doctors solve the problems of the daily wear and tear of the body...and sometimes the not-so-everyday.

In the Ops Room, we do it all. Throw a problem at us, and we'll do what we can with it. Sure, it won't be perfect. Nobody's immortal; who can go through every department in life and be a master?

We try here at Ops. And I have to say, I think we get the job done.

" Here's the current information we have on Coralee's islands. These are entirely manmade - and populated by those that can afford it. The planet's rich reside here..."

"What about the rest of the planet?"

"Gone, December. Well, not gone, but utterly unable to sustain life. Pollution, pollution, and...more pollution."

"Jeez, these people...so you're saying there's probably a whole population of poor folk slowly starving there? And these guys think they don't need help!"

"Calm down, Johnny. Clearly they've changed their minds...anyway. The islands are tethered together to the bottom of the ocean - this was designed by the 'Creator,' otherwise known as Drendjan. Anyone put two and two together yet?"

...

"Anyone?"

"The pollution's causing a problem, isn't it?"

"Correct, Decker. Are you two sleeping, Senaptra? Johnny?"

"It's been a long day, ma'am...and long night -"

"Shut it, Johnny. Apologies, Chief."

"Don't worry about it, but if that's the case, you've got an hour to start brainstorming and coming up with an answer. I hope your brains like to work and sleep at the same time!"

"What!? I mean -"

"I'm joking, guys. But think! The issue is that the islands are beginning to get flooded. There are several smaller islands surrounding a larger, central island. Info's still coming in, but we need to figure out a way to stop the flooding/sinking - think about this both ways - and we need to come up with a couple of sensible would-be solutions for the Captain."

"Chief...none us are environmental specialists or anything. Decker's a transport specialist! I swear the last time I heard of anything with 'environment' in it was in a history book a decade ago..."

"Come on, Johnny. You need to stop spending all night with your naked ladies and get some sleep! We're Operations. This is the twenty-fifth century! Grab a console and hit the searches! One hour, folks! Let's get on it!"

* * *

Definitely not experts at everything...definitely not.
But who you gonna call?

Just a note:
Real life Maryam knows all the details about Coralee but,
story character Maryam does not. I like the fact that you and your
team are thinking and working ahead, but remember unless it's said
in story, your character doesn't know yet.
That being said, once we post leaving Eridani, I'm sure there will be a staff meeting to give the appropriate information.

Good job with the frequency of your writing though, keep up the good work.
